Un 40e Ford Steveny Superbiker encore plus festif et encore plus fort, les 8,9 et 10 octobre 2027

As 2027 approaches with a particularly symbolic anniversary edition, the organisers of the Ford Steveny Superbiker of Mettet are announcing a major change: the event and the FIM Supermoto World Championship S1GP will no longer be linked. A carefully considered decision, intended to allow the Superbiker to return fully to what makes it so unique.

An unmissable fixture for nearly forty years, the Ford Steveny Superbiker is far more than a race: it is a great popular celebration, driven by its entertainment, its unique atmosphere and a remarkably rich field of riders. With more than 450 competitors entered each year, the event needs an organisational flexibility that the increasingly formalised framework of a world championship now makes difficult to reconcile.

By taking back control of its format, the organisation gives itself the means to:

  • develop its entertainment even further — the true soul of the Superbiker — to offer the public an exceptional anniversary edition;
  • open its grids to a long waiting list of riders who have, for several years, been eager to take part in the great Mettet celebration;
  • regain the flexibility required by an event of such scale.

The two organisations are following different paths. The S1GP is part of an ever more structured world-championship approach, whereas the Superbiker above all nurtures its festive and popular identity. Far from any opposition, this decision simply acknowledges that evolution, in mutual respect and with gratitude for the road travelled together.

The organisation does not, moreover, rule out crossing paths with the S1GP again in the future, as early as 2028, within a framework separate from the Ford Steveny Superbiker.

Freddy Tacheny, president of RUMESM (Royal Union Entre Sambre et Meuse), the club organising the Ford Steveny Superbiker: “The Superbiker is, above all, a celebration, an atmosphere and a crowd. For our 40th anniversary, we wanted to think big and give pride of place once again to what lies at the heart of our event: the entertainment, the conviviality and access for as many riders as possible. I want to sincerely thank the S1GP for these years of collaboration, and we will work together on a new partnership project from 2028. But 2027 will first and foremost be our club’s year: a 40th Superbiker celebrated as part of RUMESM’s 100th anniversary.”

Rest assured: the world’s best supermoto riders will continue to go head-to-head at Mettet. The Superbiker will retain its exceptional field of riders, one of the strongest in the world.

The organisers are already giving the public a date for this 40th Ford Steveny Superbiker: an edition that will also celebrate the RUMESM club’s 100th anniversary, and that promises to be more festive than ever.
